I ordered three of these from the same company and so far two of them are broken. They suck! Can't do anything about it as I'm in Abu Dhabi, the reason I ordered them in the first place.
Do not order from them, cheap Chinese product.

I spend a lot of my time outside the US, but on occasion, I would purchase the odd electrical appliance rated at 110v by mistake. It's always nice to have one of these babies around.

I bought the VT-500 more than 8 months ago, and even though I haven't used it extensively since then (I bought it to power a polk subwoofer, folks around me do not like loud music as much as I do, so I don't turn it on a lot), my impressions are that this is a well built transformer. Unlike previous step up/down transformers purchased, they would introduce a certain hum to the appliance, especially audio equipment. I have not had any such issues with this. It seems to handle fluctuating voltage very well with no interference to my sound.

I'm glad I bought this. Great product.

Bought the transformer to use in the Philippines to power a set of computer speakers. It worked good and made no noticeable noise. I am generally satisfied with my purchase. I will add a few notes FYI. The transformer is shipped without adequate padding. My unit was not damaged, but I did notice that the transformer seemed to be a bit loose inside the outer casing. Because I was going to leave the transformer in the Philippines with family, I decided to open the case & check inside for any potential problems. I noticed some wiring inside the case was routed tightly between the sharp edges of the heavy core and inside case. These wires could not be rerouted without resoldering so I wrapped the wires at these points and added some zip ties to improve the wiring placement. The general design of the transformer looked OK, but the quality of the wire, solder connections, and inside components was fairly low. Again, I am satisfied with this unit, and since mine will not be switched on and off frequently, I think it will be OK.
